2012 SCHEDULE
The 2012 tournament schedule is now official and may be found on the "Schedule" page.
Membership dues are now being accepted by our Treas. He and the Tournament Director will be putting the weekly tournament booklets together for the coming 2012 season and they need to know to whom the booklets are to be sent. Many of the golf courses are accepting early memberships and some are offering sizeable discounts for early payment of membership dues and GHIN payment. This means, if you are declaring membership to a particular golf course as qualification for entry in CMSGA, you must have evidence of that membership before playing in your first event. A GHIN membership is also necessary or the player will be playing scratch.
This year there has not been the flooding of new clubs as in past years. Still, the giant long-shaft drivers seem attractive for an additional twenty yard drive. However... Think about it. A fifteen yards shorter drive is much more preferable in your fairway than twenty or twenty-five yards longer in the rough or "lost."
STRAIGHT IS GOOD
A few notes and reminders from the web site. (1) Next year's schedule has just a couple of changes. The dates of Lakewood and Bath are reversed with Lakewood in May and Bath in July. Sunday River will be replaced with Falmouth. Waterville will be a week later than usual and also Spring Meadow will be on Thursday instead of Monday. (2) Remember tee times will be assigned two tournaments ahead provided full entrant fees are paid. (3) Next year a team will be allowed to bring a non-member guest one time. The number of times a team may employ a "non-Member", or the number of times a particular non-member may play for other teams is not well defined. Contact the Tournament Director for clarification. (This change is new and on a trial basis.) Those players participating without GHIN shall PLAY SCRATCH. There may be special provisions for Seniors 80 + in the handicap system.
AGAIN...Memberships for 2012 are now being accepted. See the "APPLICATION" page for a copy of the membership form.
It is nearly past time, "nearly" past time to get to the gym, ride the indoor bikes, and rev up the treadmills. Keeping those legs and backs limber and exercised for the spring will certainly contribute favorably to an enjoyable spring start. A walk in WALMART up and down each and every aisle two or three times a week will mean a lot in staying prime for the fairways and greens. Who knows, while there you might find something special for the cook and housekeeper who trips over your misplaced clubs. The month of May is not that far away and April is just two months away. Think about it...after the Super Bowl it's PGA golf time and that itch to get swinging is looking to get scratched.
AVOID SLOW PLAY......AVOID SLOW PLAY
Results for the final 2011 event still may be found on the "RESULT" page.

RULE REMINDERS
**********************************************
RULES OF THE FAIRWAY
No GIMMIE putts- Failure to putt out should result in there being no score for you to record on your card on that hole (partners patrol) and no final gross/net score for you on that round. It cannot be emphasized enough, the final result of your round score is the number of times the ball is struck by a legal golf club to get the ball into the hole. "Hand-mashie" is not a legal club.
CMSGA allows one club length and preferred lie in YOUR own fairway...not in the rough, ONLY YOUR OWN FAIRWAY.
Slow play continued to be a problem last year...Please gentlemen, keep up with the group in front of you.. Continuous putting is strongly recommended... PLAY "READY GOLF". Don't wait if your partner is not ready and you are not in his line. You will not be penalized. Do your scoring on the next tee. If you can't keep up with the group in front of you, let the group behind you play through. If your group's slow play continues, your foursome may have to be relegated to later tee times.
Delegate one player to TURN YOUR CARD IN AS SOON AS YOU ARE FINISHED.
Issues and ideas for the Board of Directors and/or Tournament Director are encouraged to be sent to CMSENIORGA@AOL.COM.
